AW

I first started working with David while training for an NFL tryout. I’ve continued to work with him since—over 10 years now! As my athletic endeavors changed from football to mixed martial arts, I found David to be accommodating in his approach to my rehab. The list of injuries that David has helped is extensive; IT band attachment, hamstring tear, broken hand, ankle impingement, broken foot, and a torn abdominal muscles, to name a few. Each time David focused not only on returning me back to my normal life, but making sure that I didn’t lose anything athletically because of the injury. Most times, the injured part ended up being stronger and more functional than before the injury occurred.

David Potach is one of the best sports training and rehab minds I have run across in my 15 years as a competitive athlete and his information and training methods are always on the cutting edge of science. In the many years I’ve worked with David, I have referred several friends and loved ones there and will continue to do so without reservation. It is by far the best place for sports rehabilitation. Thanks for everything you’ve done for me, David.

I play on the women’s soccer team at a Division I University. I became familiar with David when I tore my ACL during the fall of my freshman year of high school. Not only did I recover from my injury quickly and successfully, but I also built a long-lasting friendship. Even when I finished my rehabilitation, I would call David to help if I needed anything during my last three years of high school. I worked with him for many things, like when I sprained an ankle or tweaked a knee. This past year, I also contacted him during breaks from college if I was “banged up.” David has always been so nice about getting me in right away and always made time for me. I know that he really cares about me as a person, and not just as an athlete with an injury.

FAQs

Your Questions Answered

How much does the Healthy Athlete Project cost?

The 8-week virtual program is $1200, which includes weekly one-on-one video sessions, a personalized training program, and ongoing support between sessions. In-person sessions on Boston’s North Shore are $175 per session, with package options available. I believe in transparency—there are no hidden fees or upsells once you begin.

Do I need to be an elite athlete to benefit from your program?

Not at all. The Healthy Athlete Project is designed for athletes of all levels, from weekend warriors to professionals. What matters most is your commitment to improving. I’ve worked with high school athletes, competitive masters athletes, and fitness enthusiasts who simply want to move better and stay injury-free. The program is customized to your specific needs and goals.

What if I'm currently injured or recovering from an injury?

The Healthy Athlete Project is well-suited for those dealing with injuries. As a licensed physical therapist with extensive sports medicine experience, I can provide virtual coaching to help guide your recovery process. While I can’t provide hands-on physical therapy through the virtual program, I can develop a personalized plan that respects your injury while building strength and mobility in safe, progressive ways. Many clients come to me specifically because they’re navigating injuries and want expert guidance on how to train effectively while healing.

I've tried physical therapy before without success. How is this different?

Many clients come to me after traditional rehabilitation hasn’t fully resolved their issues. The Healthy Athlete Project differs by taking a comprehensive approach that addresses not just the site of pain or injury, but your entire movement system. I combine my clinical expertise as a physical therapist with advanced athletic development knowledge to bridge the gap between basic rehabilitation and return to optimal performance. We focus on building resilience and addressing the root causes of recurring problems, not just treating symptoms. My approach emphasizes progressive loading and sport-specific training that traditional PT settings often lack time or resources to provide.

What equipment do I need for the virtual program?

Most clients need minimal equipment. Basic items like resistance bands, a stability ball, and access to some form of resistance (dumbbells, kettlebells, or household items) are helpful. During our initial consultation, I’ll assess what you have available and design your program accordingly. Many exercises utilize bodyweight resistance and can be performed in limited space.

How is this different from working with a personal trainer or following an online program?

The Healthy Athlete Project bridges the gap between rehabilitation and performance enhancement. Unlike general fitness trainers, I bring clinical expertise in movement mechanics and injury prevention alongside performance optimization. Each program is built on evidence-based protocols developed through my 25+ years in sports medicine, research, and clinical practice. You’re not getting a template—you’re getting a completely individualized program with ongoing professional guidance.

What happens after I apply?

After submitting your application, you’ll receive a confirmation email within 24 hours. I personally review each application and will schedule a free 15-minute consultation call to discuss your goals and determine if we’re a good fit for working together. If we decide to proceed, I’ll send you a comprehensive intake form to complete before our first full session, allowing me to develop your personalized program.
